Questions

You probably have questions. Below are some of the most frequently asked. If your question is not listed, contact me!

How long have you been a photographer?

As a kid, I loved playing around with disposable cameras and that soon turned into my very own $30 digital camera from Walmart when I was 13. I’ve always had a love for creating art and the first time I picked up a camera professionally was in 2013 after my first year of college. I started taking senior portraits for my friends and photographing for the athletic department at Belmont University. After I graduated in 2017, I started taking my business to new levels and have been officially full time since January 2019!

Do you edit your photos or outsource them?

I edit each and every one myself as I believe the editing style is what helps set photographers apart from each other. I take pride in my edits and give my full attention to each photo making sure each detail is perfect.

Do you photograph families?

I have done family sessions in the past but have since chosen to focus my attention on couples and portraits. For couples that I have shot maternity sessions for, I would be more than happy to photograph your newborn!

Are the photos backed up?

Yes!! The absolute first thing I do after each shoot is copy the raw images from my camera’s memory card – they are then stored on my portable hard drive which is what I use while editing. In addition to that, I also keep a copy on a second hard drive that is stored in a fire proof safe. Copies of the edited files are also stored on each backup device. If for any reason, you lose your photos, I can send you new digital copies!

What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel my shoot/wedding?

The retainer is non-refundable after 14 days. Half will be refunded if canceled within 14 days of paying. If you need to reschedule, your retainer will carry over and the remaining half will be due according to your new date.

Do you travel for shoots? How much are travel fees?

Yes! I’m located in Lincoln, Nebraska but I’m always on the go and I love traveling, so bring me to you!
For sessions and weddings located 40+ outside of Lincoln within 9 hours of driving, a standard roundtrip mileage fee ($.58/mile) will be added. If your session or wedding is 10+ hours hours outside of Lincoln, all you have to cover is the flight, transportation and 1 night stay.
If you’d like an estimate of these charges, you can research hotels/airbnbs in your area and flights out of Omaha, Nebraska (I always fly Southwest since they have a good reputation of being reliable and cheaper than other airlines). The cost for a rental car is roughly $50/day. I book all of these myself so that you don’t have anything else to worry about. I will go over the costs before booking so that there are no surprises. 50% of your wedding package cost plus the travel fees will be due to secure your day. Travel accommodations are booked immediately after the retainer is deposited.

How do I book a session?

I’m so excited that you want to work together! What you need to do to book your session is scroll up and hover over “book me” then select which type of session you’re interested in. Fill out the form and give me all your details 🙂 I’ll be in touch within 24 hours to get you all set up!

How many photos will we get?

Obviously for longer shoots with more looks, there will be more photos, but I don’t have a set number. I take a large variety of photos during each session and I promise you will have more than enough captured memories to last a lifetime!

Do you photoshop?

I edit out temporary blemishes, bruises and sweat but I do not alter appearances. I believe photos are an expression of self love and a memory of this particular time in your life. If there is something you’re worried about, let me know ahead of time and I will pay extra attention to that while editing and do my best to pose you in the most flattering way to avoid what worries you. If you have an idea for something fun like extra stars in the sky, a dinosaur chasing you, etc. I can definitely do that 🙂

What is your turnaround time?

I do everything I can to get your photos back to you ASAP. During busy seasons, it can take a little longer but typically you will get them in 3 weeks or sooner. For weddings, the digital files are delivered after about 6 weeks. You will also receive the files on a custom USB delivered in the mail at a later date.

Do I have to pay in full up front?

I require a 50% non-refundable retainer when booking to secure your day. The remaining half is due the day before your session. For weddings, $975 is due up front with two 25% payments due 3 months and 1 month prior to your wedding. You can also choose to pay in full upfront and receive 20% off your cost before add-ons and tax.

What if the weather sucks?

In the case of natural disasters like extremely harsh winds, flooding, blizzards and anything else that’s going to create problems while shooting or ruin my equipment, then I will work with you to get your session rescheduled ASAP. It’s not easy to reschedule a wedding the day of and in this case it’s best to just embrace that shitty weather. It’s a memory of your day and I’ll find the best spots for us to shoot, plus I always have those cute clear umbrellas in case of rain!

Is tax added to the price?
Yes. Nebraska requires that all services be taxed. The price that is listed on my website is the price that is taxed. Travel fees are an add-on to reimburse travel and therefore are not taxed.
